I don't remember when Dale and I discovered Maple Donuts, I'm just glad we did! When it comes to donuts, there is no other kind! There are several stores in York, PA, none of which are close enough to where we live! Last week when Dale told me he had to take his mother (Nan Nan) to a doctor's appointment in York, my first thought was Maple Donuts! Dale would be leaving work early to take Nan Nan to her appointment. When he left work this morning I gently reminded him about the donuts, "If you don't bring Maple Donuts home with you, don't bother coming home!" LOL! I left him with strict instruction to get me the Whoopie Pie donut! This is by far my favorite, and worth cheating on my no-sugar rule!
The whoopie pie donut is a chocolate cake donut with chocolate icing cut in half with peanut butter cream filling in between. More peanut butter cream filling is down inside the donut hole and piled on top. Chocolate and peanut butter icing is then drizzled on top. Sometimes they even put a miniature Reese's peanut butter cup on top of that! AHHH... a little piece of heaven on earth!
I wasn't sure which picture showed it best, one using the flash, or without. Either way you photograph it, it makes my mouth water and leaves me wanting more!

Thanks Gwenda, now we're all hungry for donuts. lol!! I have a favorite too. Unfortunately they're at Dunkin Donuts in HANOVER!! Way tooooooo accessible. They are called Double Chocolate. Oh my. Have to have one now.

My favorite donuts are the sour cream/buttermilk ones. YUM!

a-hem...I think I told you about Maple donuts several years back. I grew up on 'em and there is nothin better! I am pretty sure I clued you in on them. I could be wrong. But that rarely happens :)
