Living without water

What's it like for a family of nine to live without an adequate water supply? Well, it hasn't been easy. Before using any water we check to make sure the water gate indicates there's some in the tank. As the water is being used, we continue to check, making sure when the water level goes down, that there's more in the well to be pumped up. Sometimes there is, sometimes there isn't. Many days we turn the pump off because there's no water to be pumped up. If the pump is left on without water, then the pump could burn out. I've learned to play it safe: never run the dishwasher and washing machine at the same time. Don't have all nine family members shower or bathe one right after the other, and always thank Heavenly Father for those days when I am able to do two loads of laundry in one day! Of course, those loads have to be spaced out to give the well time to recuperate from the first load! The problem with our well has been getting worse over the past five years. We found out most wells in our area are 400 feet. Ours in only 175. No wonder we're running into problems! We also filter our water, twice, before using. It has always had some sort of sediment problem. Well, enough is enough. Time to suck it up and get a new well, and so we did!
