Camping at Codorus

We finally had our first true camping experience with our camper! Kassie was at church youth conference, and so was unable to be with us. After Dale got home from work on Friday, he hooked up the camper and off we went! He was a bit nervous to be hauling such a big load for the first time, and even more nervous when it came time to back it into our campsite. He got it perfect on the first try! I was outside the van directing him and could see all eyes were on us! I heard the man at the campsite to our right say, "Wow, he's doing a really good job backing that in!" This family took one look at our van and I heard them say, "They must have a lot of kids!" Dale was so relieved once the camper was parked!

Kenzie took Kaden around and around our campsite in his wagon, waiting for the camper to be ready to get in to.

Next it was time for supper. I knew we would get set up late, so Brady had already grilled the hot dogs on our grill at home earlier in the day. All I then had to do was heat them up in the microwave along with the baked beans I had already prepared. We also had cucumber and onion slaw and O'Henry Bars for dessert.

At the amphitheater we watched part of a documentary on the River Otter in Pennsylvania.

A game of cards before lights out.

Breakfast in the great outdoors!

We didn't "need" a fire, but just had to have one anyway!

Ashton shows us her stick breaking techniques.

Bryson and Kaden play in the camper.

Our ball got stuck on the roof, so we sent the lightest person up on the roof to retrieve it -- Bryson.

Kenzie's cartwheel.

Our first campsite!

The children had a great time playing in the lake until lake patrol came by and told us we had to have life jackets in order to be in the lake! One more thing we have to get at Wal-Mart! Our neighbors have offered to give us their canoe, so we'll need them for that anyway. We shared a bag of snacks with the ducks on Saturday morning. One duck took a piece right from Ashton's hand!
