Day trip to Caledonia

This past Tuesday we spent the day playing in the creek at Caledonia State Park. Dottie and three of her children came along with us. We also met my sister-in-law and her two children at the park. The water was a bit cold at first, but that didn't stop the kids from getting wet from head to toe!

Why pay to get into the pool when the creek is free?

It was then back to the creek to catch critters. I did have a picture of the large tadpole and a minnow that we caught, but it accidentally got deleted. Bummer!

Dottie comes to visit!

My niece Dottie and her four children are in town visiting for a little more than a week. Last Saturday the children stayed with me while Dottie and her mother, (Bonnie, Dale's sister) spent some time dinning out and shopping. It had been twenty months since their last visit. It's so good to see them again!Kaden and Kaylie hang out on the hammock underneath the deck.

I know it was a long trip Dottie, but we're so glad you came!

A penny saved is a penny earned!

It has been nearly 12 years since I have worked outside the home. Dale tells me I earn money for the family by saving money. Like you Lucy, I too am a bargain shopper. I rarely pay full price for anything! Another way in which I save is by cutting the children's hair myself. About ten years ago we had a sister in our ward teach us how to give a basic hair cut. This same sister gave me further tips as I watched her cut Brady's hair. Based on what she taught me, I have been cutting my children's hair ever since. When Kaden came along I knew I'd have a challenge with all those lovely curls! His first hair cut was done by my hair dresser at no charge. She told me cutting curly hair is actually easier because it's harder to tell if it's uneven. The time came for Kaden's second hair cut. I gave it my best shot! Here's the before picture.

Getting an after picture was much more difficult! He would not cooperate for anything!

Ok, so it may not be the BEST hair cut, but I just earned my family $10.00!!
