The latest on Mom

Yesterday morning (Tuesday, April 28th) my mother was once again taken to the Gettysburg Hospital emergency room. She was having severe pain over her entire body, upset stomach and diarrhea. After running a few tests and being evaluated, she was then helivaced to York Hospital's Medical Surgery Intensive Care Unit. She has euro-sepsis, again (or is it STILL). This is a serious blood infection developed by a Urinary Tract Infection. She also has c-def (short for clostridium difficile), which is causing the terrible diarrhea. This occurs in people who have been on long term strong doses of an antibiotics. Over time the antibiotics kill the good antibodies in the stomach, allowing the bad antibodies to take over. It is contagious. Mom's kidneys are also failing. They will try correcting that with increased fluids. If that doesn't work they will call a doctor that specializes in kidney problems. My brother Mike drove Dad and I to York last evening to see Mom. She was resting comfortably, no longer in such horrific pain. More tests and procedures are still being done.

These pictures were taken at the Lutheran Home on Monday, the day before her exciting helicopter ride to York!

Mom and Kaden just finished sharing a diet soda and some cream cheese on chive crackers.
My father is handling everything very well. It is just so hard for him to see the love of his life go through all these health problems, one right after another. I know Heavenly Father is with them both!

I was thinking about you today and realizing that this is indeed a blessing. You and Kaden wouldn't be spending so much time with both of your parents if it wasn't for what is going on. Heavenly Father has a reason. Maybe it is the geneology that you talked about. maybe it is to transition your dad slowly to a life without his love. I am sure there are reasons that you haven;t been shown yet. But HE knows what He is doing. I know you know that. Just thought a reminder would be good. :-) Need me to tell you anything else you already know? ;-)
