“From the standpoint of food production, storage, handling, and the Lord’s counsel, wheat should have high priority. … Water, of course, is essential. Other basics could include honey or sugar, legumes, milk products or substitutes, and salt or its equivalent. The revelation to produce and store food may be as essential to our temporal welfare today as boarding the ark was to the people in the days of Noah.” President Ezra Taft Benson
My favorite food storage item... the dried apple slices! YUM!

This morning Dale and I went to the Washington DC cannery and canned our own food storage items. Our friends Bill and Diane Bartholomew came with us. We worked together to can nearly 800 pounds of food. It was fun, easy and went very quick!
First we put the bulk foods into cans.
My job came next, putting an oxygen pack into each can and placing the lid on top.

Yay! Did you find enough space for all of it yet? Sean and i went to Costco yesterday to build our food storage back up. Spent a ton of money, and it doesn't seem like we got enough still!
Good for you! I didn't know there was a cannery down there. I miss the one just minutes away in AZ!
